3D Design Engineer

Picnic has revolutionized grocery shopping in Europe and is expanding quickly. Automation of our supply chain processes is one of the foundations to facilitate this growth. We are currently developing multiple highly automated warehouses, sizing over 40,000 square meters with the capacity to deliver groceries to over 150,000 families per week!  We are looking for someone to start as our 3D Design Engineer for MHE (Material Handling Equipment) & Building installations. Where you fit in

As our 3D Design Engineer ('technisch tekenaar'), you’re part of the Automation & Building team that’s responsible for Picnic’s physical world of new automated Fulfilment Centers (FCs). You will work with our Project Manager, Project Planner, Project Engineers, analysts, and many other internal and external stakeholders. You will travel frequently between different Picnic locations in the Netherlands (Zwolle, Utrecht, Ridderkerk) and Germany, but will also be able to work from home on a regular basis (+/- 4 days a week). You can be based in either the Netherlands or Germany.

The result of your work will help us to improve our operations and ensure that all of our customers continuously experience our top of the bill Picnic service. Your efforts will help all of our (9000+) employees to work safely and comfortably. You can really make an impact!

What you do

  • You will be responsible for the full design process of the 2D and 3D layout design of material handling equipment (MHE) and building solutions, which will be designed entirely in house
  • You will work to generate 3D AutoCAD models, plan views, and elevation views for FCs or MHE & building layouts
  • You will create 3D models of MHE systems including catwalks, supports, header steel, and any other object that may impact MHE & building designs
  • You make proposals for ideas & concepts, work out variants expertly and have the presentation skills to explain them clearly
  • Evolve how we build: improve layouts and develop processes
  • Contact and communicate with all partners (real estate managers, mechanization & building contractors, etc.) concerned with the maintenance and construction of the automated FCs
  • You will be a valued member of the project team and will join weekly team meetings to discuss the progress

What you need

  • Bachelor or Master degree in a technical or engineering discipline (e.g. in architecture)
  • Work experience in a drafting or similar role
  • Willingness to travel to different locations across the Netherlands and Germany
  • Fluency in English and preferably Dutch and/or German
  • Experience with designing layouts utilizing AutoCAD and multitasking to handle multiple drawings and tasks.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk and Sketchup
  • You are very driven, proactive and improvement focussed
  • Presentation skills
  • Independent, communicative, and confident personality
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines
  • You are operational and have a hands-on mentality
