Real Estate Expansion Manager

Picnic is expanding its business across Europe. We are developing an international portfolio of strategic Real Estate, essential for the future growth of our business. The  Real Estate Expansion Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Picnic’s expansion in The Netherlands.

Where you fit in

Picnic’s real estate portfolio includes hundreds of locations ranging from large scale robotic Fulfilment Centers to small last-mile delivery Hubs in The Netherlands, Germany, France and other countries that we are targeting.

As our Real Estate Expansion Manager in the Netherlands, your mission is to acquire and develop new locations. This includes the end-to-end process from search, working with our partner agencies, to the technical assessment of properties, and successful negotiations with owners and developers. The scope ranges from acquisition of existing properties, to the development of new properties, and the renewals and relocations of properties already under contract. The portfolio includes smaller last mile hubs, existing distribution centers as well as large sized greenfield warehouses. You will mostly focus on the search for last mile hubs.

During negotiations, you show commercial sense, tact and sensitivity, and ability to create deals. No matter whether you are dealing with construction companies, real estate managers or public stakeholders - you always find the right tone.

What challenges await you

  • Search and sign hundreds of strategic Picnic locations
  • Align with external parties, like real estate agents, property developers, municipalities and authorities
  • Negotiate, review and prepare lease contracts and get deals signed!
  • Manage and analyse all new and existing contracts
  • Work side-by-side with Picnic teams to bring operations to launch
  • Balance analytical tasks in the office and hands-on work at all the hubs and FC’s

What you need

  • Successfully completed Bachelor or Master studies, preferably in the fields of real estate management, business studies or economics
  • Must-have: 1 - 5 years of full-time work experience in (commercial) real estate
  • Nice-to-have: experience in a high growth and/or fast-paced environment (e.g. growth company, consulting, sales, etc.)
  • Solid negotiation and communication skills 
  • Basic modelling and legal skills
  • A hands-on mentality and a solution-oriented mindset
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Willingness to travel and a class B driver's license
