Project Engineer Automated Warehouse, Amsterdam
Location: Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

At Picnic, we’re revolutionizing the way people buy groceries with our innovative and sustainable app-only service. We do almost everything in-house, developing cutting-edge technologies and processes to ensure we continue to grow rapidly without missing a beat. If you’re a passionate Project Engineer, we’re offering you the opportunity to make a real difference in our scaleup environment.

🥜 In a nutshell

Automation of our supply chain processes is one of the foundations to facilitate this growth. We are currently developing multiple highly automated warehouses, sizing over 40,000 square meters with the capacity to deliver groceries to over 150,000 families per week! We are looking for someone to take a leading role in these projects and start as our Project Engineer.

As our Project Engineer, you’re part of the team that’s responsible for Picnic’s physical world. The Automation team organises the design and building of new automated warehouses and makes sure all the right equipment is there. You will work with our Project Engineers, Analysts, the automation team lead and many other internal and external stakeholders. You will travel frequently between different Picnic locations in the Netherlands and Germany.

🎯 What you’ll do

With your experience and forward-thinking ideas, you will play a lead role in designing and building highly optimised Automated Fulfilment Centres. Next to this, you will be working on optimization and maintenance projects for the manual warehouses and Hubs. The result of your work will help us to improve our operations and ensure that all of our customers continuously experience our top of the bill Picnic service. Your efforts will help all of our (5000+) employees to work safely and comfortably.

You can really make an impact by:

  • Taking ownership over the launch and optimization of Automated warehouses
  • Taking the lead in the selection and purchasing process of new equipment
  • Evolving how we build: improve layouts and develop processes
  • Contacting and communicating with all partners (real estate managers, building contractors, etc.) concerned with the maintenance and construction of the Automated warehouses

⭐ About you

  • Finished HBO or Master’s degree, preferably in a technical or engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in building or engineering management
  • Fluency in Dutch and preferably English and/or German
  • Independent, communicative, and confident personality
  • You are very driven and always want to improve processes
  • You are operational and have a hands-on mentality
  • Willingness to travel to different locations across the Netherlands
