Where you fit in

Our Fulfillment Centers (FCs) are the heart of our operations where our shoppers pick groceries for thousands of customers, 6 days per week. Up to 500 people work in one FC, from the early morning until the late evening. From there, the picked groceries are sent to our hubs, from where they are finally delivered to the customers with our electric vehicles.

As our Site Lead - Operations, you play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction by leading your team and improving our fulfillment processes. You will coordinate the various team leads in the areas of receiving, picking, dispatching as well as outbound. In this way, you ensure an optimal and smooth flow of processes. At the same time, you manage external service providers and work closely with the local HR department as well as other important stakeholders within the FC and the central team. These include our data analysts and software developers, but also your colleagues that help you lead an FC such as supervisors and continuous improvement & operations managers. You truly enjoy leading and engaging your employees as well as KPI analysis and process optimization. In addition, you know that only a safe operation is a good operation .. It’s a responsible job where you can make a huge impact on the work satisfaction for many Picnic employees, as well as set the stage for the revolution of online grocery shopping.

Your onboarding will be ~6 months, during which you will learn from other FC Leads and FC teams. After that, you will get the chance to lead your own FC! Flexibility in terms of location is required, in order for us to be able to promise you this chance. We plan to open new FCs in Hamm, Hannover and Frankfurt am Main as the next substantial step of our growth!

What challenges await you

  • Engage and lead the team on the floor of more than 500 people, as well as a team of 4 supervisors and 2 continuous improvement & operations managers
  • Be responsible for all warehouse processes and ensure that everything runs smoothly
  • Implement and monitor optimizations of existing logistics structures and processes, as well as define (new) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Be involved in the operational capacity planning of your fulfillment center
  • Guarantee work safety in compliance with legal guidelines and quality criteria
  • Be in contact with the other FC Leads in Germany, The Netherlands and France 

What you need

  • University degree, preferably in Engineering or Supply Chain
  • 5+ years of full-time work experience
  • Experience in leading positions, ideally in an operations environment
  • Drive: with a get-up-and-go attitude, you can be ready at 6 A.M. 
  • Quick thinking: you identify issues and come armed with a solution
  • Capable mind: intellectual horsepower to learn on the go
  • Analytical eye: you quickly grasp numerical information
  • Pragmatism: You are able to turn your idea into a successful implementation 
  • Humbleness: you stack shelves and pack boxes to better understand the flow of processes
  • Leadership skills: you know how to motivate and coach your team
  • Fluency in English as well as German
  • Proficient knowledge of data analysis tools (tableau, excel, etc.)
  • A bit of flexibility with regards to location
